You know how sometimes you will hear about an event, really want to go to it but for some reason never do, and then when you finally get the chance to experience it you realize it could never possibly live up to the anticipation you’ve been feeding for years?
The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is not an example of this phenomenon–mostly because I didn’t have ridiculously high expectations to start with. I just thought it would be a cool thing to see. And it was.
It’s nice when something that seems fun is simply that. No surprises. Which means, of course, no good surprises but also no bad surprises, and on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, that’s a very pleasant state to be in.
