#661: Watch Phoenix

I get it.  Two people on a small stage.  It’s probably very difficult to make this convincing, especially when one of the actors is Julia Stiles, who is famous and therefore has to try even harder to get the audience to see her as a character and not a celebrity.

But I did not enjoy this play.  I’m sure both actors are very talented in general, but as people who were supposed to be interacting in a “dark romantic comedy,” they fell way short.

#660: Buy a cucumber

I have no idea what makes a cucumber ripe or not.  I do know the fact that I bought one reinforces the idea that people can change.  This act is dangerously close to buying a pickle, and regardless of how much I believe people can and often should continue improving themselves throughout their lives, I refuse to believe I will one day like that horrendous food.

#659: Umami Burger

According to this article, the umami flavor can help people feel fuller so they eat less later and are satisfied during their current meal with less food.

#657: See Piper Kerman

One of the reasons I don’t like Piper’s character on Orange is the New Black is the same reason I thought I wouldn’t like Lena Dunham’s character on Girls: I am predisposed to dislike people who grew up privileged.  Whether that’s as bad–or even the same–as automatically disliking people who grew up disadvantaged is a topic for another discussion.

#656: Get pizza plates

I rescued them, actually, from my apartment building’s lobby yesterday morning when I came back from a run. Read the rest of this entry »

#655: See Ghostbusters

Other new things I did yesterday include:

  • Eat donuts from Dough Loco
  • Go to Earl’s Beer and Cheese
  • Get a freshly-made donut from Dough Loco delivered to me next door at Earl’s
  • Try beer cheese spread on a donut
  • Find out beer cheese isn’t made with beer
