#705: Accidentally “reply all”

28 Oct

For years–as many as I’ve been working in an office–I’ve wondered how someone can do this.  How do you accidentally respond to an email meant only for one person to many more people?

They’re 2 completely different buttons!!!

For years, this mysterious gaffe has inspired hours of laughter and frustration, resulting both from people who mistakenly send a private note to the public, and those who don’t understand the concept of distribution lists and therefore repeatedly ask to be removed from the list.  You can spend a good half hour at a time mesmerized by the email chain after a mistaken “reply all.”

Luckily, when I made the fatal error yesterday, the email only went to 5 people instead of 1, was only a sentence long, and wasn’t anything that shouldn’t be seen by others.

Still–I never thought I’d do it.

They’re 2 completely different buttons!!!
