#783: Use an inhaler

It turns out maybe doctors do know what they’re doing sometimes.

Maybe, possibly, it would have been a good idea to take the prescribed medication a month ago instead of having to go to the doctor again because I’m unable to run more than 10 minutes without coughing things up.

Maybe, possibly, I wouldn’t now have to use an inhaler for at least a week while I hope it gets me to the point where I can breathe again.

Maybe, possibly, I let my worries about the terrible side effects of steroids get in the way of sound medical treatment that would have allowed me to not freak out about the possibility that my marathon goal may be dashed before I can even start training for it.

#782: Lie on a blog

The fact that I so strongly believed I had closure that I posted about it shows you how delusional I can be when I really want something.

#781: Get closure

Anyone familiar with my post-breakup texts or emails will know the impetus behind them is ostensibly to get closure.

Anyone familiar with my post-breakup texts or emails will know I never get closure from them.

The thing my brain neglects to explain to my heart is that you don’t get closure by making a fool of yourself.  You don’t get closure by understanding the reason for a break-up, or making it clear to the other person that you understand the reason.  You don’t get closure by pretending you’re fine; you don’t get it by admitting you’re not.

The way you get closure–and I can hardly believe it’s taken me this long to figure out when I’m sure there are countless self-help books that say a similar thing, and I’m fairly certain I’ve read countless articles pronouncing the same, and I’ve possibly even told myself this before–is simply to not question the situation.

#780: Dough

I already had my favorite doughnuts and really wasn’t looking to add new places to the list.  But Dough did a pretty good job of trying to convince me otherwise.

Maybe it was the giddy feeling of “summer’s coming” that accompanied the taste since I ate it while playing kickball for the first time this season.  Maybe it was the sensation of passion fruit glaze that I’d never had before.  Maybe it was simply that it was a donut and I was hungry.

#779: Queens International Night Market

The concept?  A night market like those often held in other countries, or like the ones we have in NYC during the day but at night.

Good.

The execution? Read the rest of this entry »

#778: Watch Going Clear

In case you spend even less time in our cultural reality than I do, Going Clear is the Scientology documentary based on the book of the same name.

Going Clear is absolutely insane.

What’s even more insane?  The differing opinions on it–and I’m talking in addition to the Scientologists’ viewpoint, because I just assume they don’t exactly love it.
