People do this all the time and it isn’t a big deal.
For me, a serious non-baker, it was a huge deal. I even made the crust from scratch.
Sure, it took me an hour more than it was supposed to, and the bottom of the crust wasn’t exactly done, and I had to cut into it before completely cooling so the filling oozed out.
But it was an apple pie–an apple pie I baked. And it was delicious.
