Almost 8,000 reviews on Yelp with an average 4-star rating. It’s gotta be good, right? It can’t be one of those overrated landmarks that people continue to go to simply because someone once said it was fantastic and no one wanted to risk disagreeing?
It could be one of those places, but it isn’t.
Granted, this is based on my dining companion’s opinion and not my own–my own being one of, “Eh, it’s good, but I don’t see why it’s AMAZING.” Perhaps it’s the 1.5 hour wait on a Saturday at 2pm, but I don’t think so. I think it’s just that very few restaurants will ever live up to that kind of hype in my eyes.
Or maybe it turns out I don’t like ramen as much as I thought.
Either way, I will not protest the outrageously positive reviews. Will I suggest you go yourself? Sure, just to say you did, if that alone is a good enough reason for doing it. There are worse things to try for that reason, for sure.
