#882: Get through closing train doors

I would never try to squeeze through the doors of the subway when they’re already closing, even though so many people attempt to do this all the time. It’s dangerous, first of all. Do you need to be reminded of the man who died after being dragged by the train whose doors he was caught in?

But second of all, I don’t bother trying because I know I’d never make it through. Read the rest of this entry »

#881: Watch Love Me

Whenever I watch or read or hear something about mail order brides, I think the situation is creepy. It’s for middle-aged (and above) men who don’t want to put the effort into working on a relationship and would prefer to pay for the appearance of happiness.

Watching Love Me made me question my preconceived notions.

There was still creepiness, of course.

#880: See Love

Thoughts after the 1st episode: This is okay; no real need to keep watching.

Thoughts after the 2nd episode: I’m liking it more. I think I should keep watching.

Thoughts after the 3rd episode: These characters are both annoying.

#879: Bodie Method Fitness

Some people really like this class according to the reviews. It’s the only workout class they have ever liked. It has changed their lives.

I believe them.

I also believe the psychological nightmare it was for me, from the instructor personally moving me into the right position for every move since I was the only new student (and there were only 2 others in the class), to the other students continuously telling me I’d eventually get it and everyone starts out not being able to do anything right, to not being able to do anything right, to the instructor’s habit of laughing when I told him I physically couldn’t move that way. #878: Go to an a cappella show

I always claim I can sing, that I can stay in tune, hit the right notes, etc., but that I have no range and my voice doesn’t sound good. Yes, this is probably the same as saying you can dance but you have no rhythm and you run into the other dancers.

So anyone who can actually sing impresses me. Read the rest of this entry »

#877: Puppet playlist

“I’ve lived in New York almost 11 years, and this is in the top 5 for Most Brooklyn Experience Ever.”

Maybe my viewing companion was right. He was certainly right when he said we weren’t the intended audience for this show.

#876:Walk across the Williamsburg Bridge

It’s no Brooklyn Bridge, but it’s no Queensboro Bridge either.

Like the Brooklyn neighborhood itself, it’s a little underwhelming, and you get the feeling a lot of people are only there because they think they should be and not because it’s something really special. Read the rest of this entry »
