#935: Watch Tickled

You know what they say: one man’s tickle is another man’s torture.

Or something like that.

I’d been looking forward to seeing the Tickled documentary since it came out over the summer. It follows a weird concept–this is an objective statement, believe it or not–of investigating Competitive Endurance Tickling competitions and the person behind these events.

See. Weird. Read the rest of this entry »

#930: See Arrival

Another day, another test of a new(ish) movie theater. Alamo Drafthouse was less impressive in my opinion than Syndicated, for a few reasons: its food was more expensive, its tickets were more expensive, its seats were closer together.

But I probably could have seen Arrival anywhere and still enjoyed it. Read the rest of this entry »

#929: Syndicated

This movie theater is pretty much just like Nitehawk in that it shows movies and serves food. However, the tickets are much cheaper, so I think I like it more.

#911: Watch Dear Zachary

My Netflix account had malfunctioned the day before, so I had to wait 24 hours to watch this documentary. I don’t know why I was set on seeing it, except that it had shown up in the documentaries list and seemed to have gotten good reviews.

Okay, so I do know why I wanted to see it.

But there also has to be something deep inside me that inspires me to watch a devastating story even knowing going into it that it’s going to be horrifying. Read the rest of this entry »

#910: See The Double

The Double is one of those movies that makes you think, while you’re watching it, “Am I just too dumb to really get this, or do I just not like it?”

Since I also thought the same thing after it was over, I’m going to go with the latter. Read the rest of this entry »

#890: Watch The Guest

On the one hand, I didn’t have the visceral (negative) reaction to this movie that my viewing partner did. On the other hand, I really didn’t like it.
