#706: Skype

If it seems strange to think I’ve never done this before, well, just think about how I didn’t even know if my laptop had a camera on it until I tested out Skype.

That doesn’t make it better, no, but it gives you more to think about.

The verdict: it’s cool.  People should use it.  I think it may become popular.

#472: Buy an iPhone

For some reason, when my company bought me an iPhone, I resented it a little.  The reason was because I didn’t want to be on-call 24 hours a day.  But it was also because I don’t like being forced to do anything.

So yesterday, when I gave in and bought my own iPhone now that I no longer have a work-provided one, it didn’t feel like I was succumbing to technology (and the robots).  Because I was completely in charge of the decision, it felt fine.

It seems I am one of those people who, when presented with an idea she doesn’t like, needs simply to think she thought of it on her own and suddenly it will become acceptable.  Of course that sounds silly, but wanting to feel like a person has agency in her own life doesn’t. #435: Use a mobile boarding pass

My coworker’s iPhone is coming to life and trying to take over.  Siri turns on and starts talking by herself and the phone takes pictures of the home screen.  I’m pretty sure I will soon find myself in the middle of a cheesy horror movie.

So, yeah, you could say I don’t always love technology.
